Privacy Policy
LekkaNet (Goldtel Industries (Pty) Ltd) is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the Electronic Communications Act.
Credit and identity checks

As required by RICA (the Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communications-Related Information Act, 2008), we're legally required to verify your identity in a face-to-face process when registering a SIM card, using your original identity document or passport and proof of residential address not older than 3 months.
POPIA consent
By submitting an application to LekkaNet, you confirm and acknowledge that:
- I have provided my personal information details to LekkaNet voluntarily.
- I have provided my personal details personally, for the purpose(s) of applying for and being provided with LTE/LTE-A/Fixed LTE services.
- I am aware of my right as data subject to, at any time, object to the processing of my personal information.
- I am aware of my right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
- I am aware of my right to withdraw my consent at any time.
- My details may be used for direct marketing or newsletter purposes by LekkaNet, unless I indicate otherwise on the application form.
Cookies and website data
This website does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell or share browsing data.
We do measure how the site is used, with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts page views and where visits come from, without cookies and without collecting anything that identifies you personally, so we can see which pages are useful without tracking individuals.
These things are stored in your own browser, and never sent to us:
- Your answer to the privacy notice, so we don't ask again on every visit.
- If you use our package helper, the package it suggested, so the application form can pre-select it. This expires after two hours, and is only stored if you accepted the notice. Declining turns it off, and nothing stops working.
- If you check an address on the coverage map and then click through to apply, that address, so the application form can fill it in for you instead of asking you to type it twice. It is deleted the moment the form reads it, and expires after 30 minutes if you never get there. This one works unless you declined the notice, because it is your own address being carried from one step of your application to the next rather than anything we keep.
- If you start an application, the details you have typed so far, so closing the tab by accident doesn't lose your progress. We deliberately leave out your ID or passport number, your banking details and your uploaded documents, so those are never kept on your device. It expires after 24 hours, is cleared the moment you submit, and is only stored if you accepted the notice.
Change your choice
The notice only appears once, so this is where you change your mind. You can also clear everything by clearing site data in your browser, which will make the notice reappear.
Checking your current choice…
The coverage map
Our coverage checker is an embedded tool that uses Google Maps, so Google receives the usual technical information any website visit involves and applies its own privacy terms. When you search an address, that address and its map coordinates are sent to the relevant network operators to check what is available there, and are recorded by LekkaNet so we can see which areas are being asked about. Please only search addresses you are entitled to enquire about.
Lodging a complaint
If you believe your personal information has been mishandled, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator at complaints.IR@justice.gov.za.
Marketing preferences
When you apply, you'll be asked whether you consent to your details being used for direct marketing or newsletter purposes. You can withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us.
For our full service terms, see our Terms & Conditions.
If you have any questions about how we handle your data, please get in touch.
